Musical Calligraphy

I have always gravitated toward the fluid lines and elegant curves of calligraphy script. My passion for calligraphy continued to deepen as I grew older, and I began to explore other scripts and techniques. In addition to calligraphy, I have always had a love for painting. I was particularly drawn to the works of Stuart Davis, Mark Tobey, and Piet Mondrian, who all incorporated elements of calligraphy into their art and also sought to visually represent music within their art. Their use of lines and shapes, as well as the way they played with color and space, inspired me to think about calligraphy in a new way.

I began to experiment with combining the lineal style of calligraphy, the tonal fields of painting, and the rhythms of music to develop a form of musical notation which I call "Musical Calligraphy." In this style, I use calligraphic lines and shapes to create a visual representation of music. I explore the rhythms, melodies, and harmonies of music through the movement and flow of the calligraphic lines.

My current paintings are a work in progress, and I hope to continue to develop my style and push the boundaries of what is possible with musical calligraphy.
