Portraiture

One of the most powerful things about portraiture is its ability to connect people but the face is as van Gogh put it "the most interesting and important branch of painting".

Portraiture allows me to explore different techniques and styles. Each face is a new challenge, a blank canvas on which to experiment with different lighting, composition, and brushstrokes. It is always exciting to discover new ways to convey a person's character and presence on the canvas.

Finally, portraiture allows me to capture a moment in time and preserve it for eternity. Each portrait is a snapshot of a person at a specific point in their life, and through my art, I can freeze that moment and hold onto it forever. "Portraiture is a mirror to the soul, a reflection of the human condition." -John Everett Millais
